		the 2000 Grand National offers an exceptional
		opportunity to display your work to an audience that
		gathers from all over the West. Destined to become
		a major annual Western Art event, this show gives
		artists unparalleled access to the public.

				  OPPORTUNITIES
		Premier Location
		The exhibit will be staffed by trained sales personnel at all
		times. All work will be available for immediate sale and
		removal by the buyer, and will be replaced by reserve work
		from the same artist.
		Artists' Showcase - The Private Gallery
		Create your own display in the special Private Gallery
		showcasing your commission work. Meet potential clients,
		paint on-site to demonstrate your skill, provide visitors with
		your business cards and brochures put show staff to work
		representing you for commission assignments.
				  RULES, REGULATIONS AND FINE PRINT
		Entries
		All entries must be recent original works that were not
		created under the supervision of an instructor. Each artist
		may submit up to (5) entries.
		2000 Calendar
		September 15 - Entry/Slide Deadline
		October 1 - Notification of Artists
		October 16 - Deadline for receipt of exhibition work
		October 27 - Judging for awards from original work
		October 27 - November 5 - Show Dates
		November 6 - 5pm - Deadline to pick up unsold work
		(return service available)
		Media Accepted
		Media accepted include: sculpture in any media; painting
		in any media; photography; digital graphic art. No
		minimum or maximum size.
		Entry Requirements
		A non-refunable fee of $40 payable to "Cow Palace" must
		accompany your entry form. Please mail entry form, labeled
		slides, payment and a SASE for return of non-selected slides
		to: Cow Palace, Celebration of Western Art PO Box 34206,
		San Francisco, CA 94134-0206. Entry into this competition
		constitutes your agreement with provision of this prospectus.
		Slides
		Selection of work for the exhibit will be based on slides
		submitted. Slides must be cardboard or standard thickness
		plastic mounts. Label with artist's name, title, medium,
		dimensions and entry number. Indicate front and top. The
		Cow Palace reserves the right to photographically
		document any artwork accepted in the show for use in
		catalogs or publicity purposes until the end of exhibition.
		Notification
		Notice of the jurors' decision will be mailed to artists within
		three weeks of slide deadline.
		Participation
		Artist gives producers exclusive right to sell exhibited work
		for the duration of the show. Work provided for exhibit will
		not be released to or withdrawn by artist until the end of the
		show. Should artist withdraw work before the end of the
		show, artist will pay producers a fee of 30% of listed sales
		price of piece.
		Complimentary Tickets
		Everyone who makes an entry into the Grand National
		Celebration of Western Art will receive two complimentary
		tickets to a Grand National Arena Performance.
		Display
		All accepted work must be appropriately framed, matted
		and/or mounted by the exhibitor. For the protection of the
		work of other artists, no sawtooths, clamps or protruding
		screw eyes. Tape wire ends. Use plexiglass if possible for
		media under glass. Snow producers reserve the right to
		withhold hanging of any piece. The Cow Palace assumes
		total design control of the display. Security is provided in
		exhibit area, and area is locked while the exhibit is closed.
		Sales
		All entered work must be for sale. Buyer will purchase work
		through the Cow Palace. The Cow Palace will add sales tax
		to the price of the work, will report and pay tax to the State
		of California, and will pay artist 70% of pre-tax sale price.
		Accepted artists will receive a sales instruction card on which
		the artist specifies various aspects of sale price and terms,
		such as asking price/lowest price, unframed price if piece
		is available unframed; discounts, if any, to buyers of more
		than one piece by the same artist, etc. Any exhibited work
		sold by artist within 60 days from end of show to any buyer
		who saw the piece at the show will be subject to the same
		arrangement - 30% commission to Cow Palace.
		Private Commission Group
		Artists, who have one or more pieces accepted, may
		participate in the Private Commission Group. Participating
		artists will be invited to create an exhibit demonstrating their
		commission work, to paint on site and meet exhibit visitors,
		and to make cards and brochures available for visitors.
		This material will be displayed in a special area designated
		The Private Gallery. Exhibit staff will advertise the availability
		of artist to execute commission work for clients; make
		information about participating group artists available to
		visitors; and encourage commission inquiries from visitors.
		Producers will notify participating assists of specific
		commission opportunities within 24 hours of client contact.
		Participation in the Private Commission Group is optional.
		Cost is $150. Artists receive 100% of payment by client for
		work done for clients as a result of referral through group.
		In addition, each Private Commission Group artist will
		receive an invitation for two to the VIP Reception on Opening
		Night, Friday, October 27th.
		Awards
		Cash awards and rosettes for Best in Show; and for first
		through third place in each media category will be awarded.
		In addition, a People's Choice award and two Honorable
		Mention ribbons in each media will be awarded. Cash
		Awards over $600 are subject to state and federal tax laws.
		Delivery and Return
		Work must be shipped or delivered to the Cow Palace,
		Celebration of Western Art, 2600 Geneva Avenue, Daly City,
		CA 94014 at artist's expense. Work must be received between
		October 2 and October 16 between 9:30am-4pm
		at the Cow Palace Administration Office. All shipped work
		must include return shipping label and prepaid shipping.
		Shipping not prepaid by artist will be returned C.O.D.
		Unsold work may be picked up immediately after the close of
		the exhibit, from 7pm to 9pm, and from 9:30am to
		noon the next day. Artist is responsible for insuring work
		against shipping damage, and holds the Cow Palace
		harmless from any damage to work during shipping.
		Artist Agreement
		Artist agrees to read all art-show related material, and to
		abide by all terms, conditions and deadlines therein
		including return pick-up or shipping arrangements. In
		consideration of the Cow Palace allowing the artist's work,
		artist: 1) releases the Cow Palace, its directors, agents and
		staff from any liability whatsoever resulting from any aspect
		of the handling, transporting, shipping, exhibiting, storing
		or selling of the work, 2) agrees to give the Cow Palace
		exclusive right to sell exhibited work for the duration of the
		show, 3) agrees to accept 70% of the total sale price
		designated by artist for any sold work, 4) agrees to allow,
		without compensation but with acknowledgment,
		reproduction of entered pieces in Grand National and Cow
		Palace public relations materials, web site and show catalog.
		Artist is responsible for insurance. Artist gives show
		producers permission to sell his/her exhibits at the price
		designated by artist; to collect and pay to taxing authority
		any applicable sales taxes and to retain 30% of pre-tax sale
		price to cover show expenses. Artist agrees that, should
		any exhibited work be sold by artist within 60 days from end
		of show to any buyer who saw the piece at the show, artist
		will pay 30% of the sale price to show producers.
