CATTLEMEN’S DAY – APRIL 11, 2008

Join us for some hoopin’ and hollerin’ at the 2008 Grand National Rodeo, Horse & Stock Show’s Cattlemen’s Day, Friday, April 11.

You can make a day of it watching some of the top cow horses and riders in the Western States, beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Make a day of watching the arena horse show classes. Lunch is available as always in the Concourse Round Up Room, and in addition, on Cattlemen’s Day, a barbeque lunch is available.

 

SHOPPING AND WESTERN ART

Do some serious shopping at the Western Mercantile located in the South Hall and with various vendors around the Concourse. Mosey over to the Celebration of Western Art Show and Sale in the North Concourse.

 

WINE TASTING

Before the show begins Wine Tasting will be open for you to sample some great local California wines, also located on the North Side. Proceeds from the wine tasting benefit the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.

The Santa Maria Elks traditional barbeque begins at 5:30. It’s got all the fixin’s, including mouth-watering beef tri-tip, green salad, cowboy style beans, tortilla, salsa, and coffee. It’s enough to fill you up so you can settle in to watch the Arena Rodeo Performance beginning at 7:30.

 

ARENA PERFORMANCE

The 7:30 Arena Performance includes PRCA rodeo events, a Tennessee Walking Horse Exhibition, you will see professional reined cow horse riders and horses displaying expert reining and fence work, (National Reined Cow Horse Association approved), in the $1,000 Open Stock Horse Triumph, sponsored by Keep IT Simple Computer Center, plus amazing Cattle Dog Trials.

The 2008 California Chamber of Commerce Livestock Man of the Year, Hank Stone, will be honored during the performance and presented his award with all the past Livestock Men of the Year joining in his celebration.
